WHAT TO EXPECT

When you see a physiotherapist, they will complete a thorough assessment that includes your health history, evaluation of symptoms, movement patterns, strength, range of motion, reflexes, sensation while including your goals and expectations in their evaluation andtreatment.

They will also examine relevant imaging, laboratory tests, medical records and surgical notes. Based on this assessment, the physiotherapist develops a diagnosis and works in partnership with you to plan individualized goals and treatment programs

Physiotherapists promote independence, including emphasis on how you can help yourself. For example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions and how to set goals to achieve result. Where appropriate, physiotherapists also advise care-givers on how they can help you.

How It Works

Electrotherapy

Is the use of electrical energy in the treatment of impairments of health, including controlling pain, treating neurological disease and even used to speed up wound healing. Electrotherapies can include but are not limited to Neuro musculature electrical stimulation, Interferential current and ultrasound. Ultrasound is a modality that delivers sound waves that transmit energy into the tissues. Physiotherapists use ultrasound to treat inflammation, control pain, help to heal fractures, deliver medication into tissues, break up scar tissue formed after an injury and treat surgical scars.
